Tennis Revolution: The Ambidextrous Double-Handled Racquet That Could Make the Backhand Obsolete

French ambidextrous player Marko Maric has stunned the tennis world with a double-handled racquet, allowing him to hit forehands with both his right and left hands.

Maric, who can now play entire matches without ever hitting a backhand, recently competed with the unique racquet at the French Championships held on the clay courts of Roland-Garros.

Teodor Davidov: The Prodigy Who Popularized the No-Backhand Style

Maric’s approach is reminiscent of Teodor Davidov, the 15-year-old Bulgarian-American prodigy who plays tennis without a backhand thanks to his ambidextrous style.

Kalin Davidov, Teodor’s father, is the architect behind his son’s unique playing method, which has been a viral sensation on social media since 2021.

“When Teo was about to turn eight, I decided he should start playing with his left hand to affect the right hemisphere of his brain,” Kalin explained to The Guardian. “He is very extroverted, fiery, and a bit unbalanced, so I just wanted to influence the right hemisphere of his brain by using the left side of his body. The balance between the left and right hemispheres is crucial.”
