Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud in Monte Carlo final, no final for Novak Djokovic yet in 2024

16 Apr 2024 | George Fotev

Stefanos Tsitsipas has qualified for the final of the Monte Carlo masters tournament at the expense of Italian Jannik Sinner. The score was 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 for the twelfth-seeded Greek, who will play his first final match of the season. He will meet Casper Ruud, who won against Novak Djokovic.

For Sinner (22), number 2 in the world, it was only the second defeat of the season. Last month he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in three sets at Indian Wells. In the third set, Tsitsipas overturned a 3-1 deficit. In the final phase, Sinner was treated on his upper leg.

Tsitsipas won the tournament in Monte Carlo in 2021 and 2022. In the final on Sunday, he will face Serbian Novak Djokovic or Casper Ruud from Norway.

Novak Djkokovic

Casper Ruud, number ten in the ATP rankings, won against Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-1 and 4-6. Djokovic has played only three tournaments so far in 2024. Not once did he reach the final.
